boon experieince
You
Know Clint Boon. You Really Do. Once upon a time he was
the chief organ grinder, songwriter and spokesperson for
those loveable Mancs, Inspiral Carpets. Clint hung up his
bowlhead 3 years ago, but the real fun is just beginning.
And Mr Boon should know - after 3 corking singles on Rabid
Badger Recordings and The
Compact Guide To Pop Music And Space Travel Part One
album on Artful Records, he is ready to climb back up to
the summit of the pop mountain.
Why
are you doing this?
I'm doing this interview because I believe in promoting
and advertising my music. I'm doing music because it's the
medium with which my mortal soul can best explain it's feelings
and experiences. As far back as I can remember, the only
thing I ever wanted to be was a pop star! I'm very lucky
in that respect. Most people don't get to see their dreams
come true. I love being a musician and would do it
for no financial gain. In fact, most of the time I do!
What
is the best dream you ever had?
The most vivid dream I ever had was one in which I was stumbling
down a steep grassy hillside. As I accelerated I started
to glide, taking off and soaring above the valley floor
and then off into the sky. It is still the most realistic
dream I can remember. The 'best' ones though, always include
sex! For a long long time I always dreamed about planecrashes,
this topic cropped up a couple of times (in songs I wrote)
when I was working with the Inspirals. I think it was basically
because I had a strong fear of flying.
What
question do you hate to be asked and what's the answer?
"Why don't you reform The Inspirals?" "Because it would
be a backward step for me personally even though I appreciate
there are a lot of fans out there who would relish the opportunity
to see us again."
Describe
your most rock n roll experience.
Even though it happened way before I met and married Maegan,
it would be disrespectful to her and our marraige to give
details. All I can say is (just like all the best R&R
experiences) it involved the following elements; alcohol,
hotel room, young girls and a mild degree of vomiting. Thankfully,
drugs didn't play a large part in any of my R&R experiences!
Who
is the coolest person in the band and why?
Stubbsy, he's a world class pop star albeit in the early
stages. I don't think even he realises his own massive potential
yet. Don't tell him though 'cos I don't want to lose him.
What's
the last record you regret buying?
I don't buy many, I get most free, the ones I do buy are
very well considered beforehand. I recently bought a compilation
of songs by David Essex, the first 7 on it are absolute
classics, the other 20+ are a selection of dross and severe
career mistakes. However, I don't actually regret buying
it. I still love him.
How
would you like to die?
With my boots on, with the house tidy, with my kids nearby,
without too much shouting, no bodilly fluids escaping, nice
tune playin', smilin', rich, well liked, just after sex,
slightly drunk.
What
is the best thing you've ever seen (non-musical...)?
The Saturn 5 space rocket at the Johnson Space Centre in
Houston Texas. It affected me so much I wrote a classic
pop song about it.
