For The Ordinary Boys a simple check list should suffice:

  • Major label backing? Check.
  • NME and radio support? Check.
  • Fancy sleeve design? Check.
  • Good tunes? Erm… check…

Can you spot the odd one out kids? Yup, this last one came as a surprise. I hadn't really been expecting too much from this, despite the Morrisey reference and the Stephen Street production, I was expecting more indie guitar fodder, but both of these songs are surprisingly good. Nothing new of course, but there's some nimble bass playing going on and some sturdy, memorable song writing.

Is it me or are there a few vague suggestions of some kind of Britpop revival? Just don't ask me if that's a good or bad thing.
