After
numerous singles, compilations, and their split LP with
KEMIALLISET YSTDVDT, EIYL bring us their debut album. And
it doesn't disappoint. With an energy that betrays a love
for making a lot of noise, this Finnish band have recorded
eight tracks of crashing sturm und drang, jumping from subdued
tension to all-out blasting at the stomp of a distortion
pedal. And, blissfully, under all the crackle and fizz,
complex melodies peep put, seeping into your conciousness.
Yum.
Nea's vocals are reminiscent of Signe from much-missed Danish
band MURMUR, or perhaps 'er out of UZEDA, while the guitars
lay on some more early SY moves. And the best thing is that
this band are way more than a simple sum of their influences.
Europeans have long had a reputation for making some rather
unhinged music, and Finnish bands seem to be staking a claim
as the howling kings. Okay, so EIYL are more likely to murmur
a little before they freak out, but I think you get the
picture. Do they rock? Oh yes they do.
Nice digi-pak sleeve. Awesome.

to 500 copies. A co-release with If
Society. You should really check out their latest album
"8 Hours" - it's brilliant. You can buy it from
Norman
